Digital Cinema
_
The movie theater industry has been going all-digital since the early 2000s. For good reason, nothing is more closely guarded than digitized first-run movie files – and today, leading distributors trust KenCast to deliver movie files to more than 5,000 theaters around the world. With this amount of security and reliability in place, it’s also possible to show live streaming events in cinemas.
KenCast’s Digital Cinema solution is recognized by major studios and exhibitors as the next generation of satellite and terrestrial digital motion picture distribution. Our software and hardware appliances currently enable the secure, reliable and cost-effective distribution of feature, promotional, pre-show and live content into theaters, no matter where they are located. Founded on our flagship Fazzt Enterprise Server and Professional Client, the solution is the result of thousands of engineering hours focused on automating the specific and exacting workflows for securely handling unreleased movies in digital form, reliably transmitting them to thousands of theaters, and validating the packages stored at the receiving end.
This solution manages every step of the delivery process, from rapidly ingesting Digital Cinema Packages (DCPs) from distributors earmarked for specific theaters, to their timely delivery and automated handoff to Theater Management Systems on a precise schedule. Centralized operators can control both satellite and terrestrial networks through the same Fazzt console, and provide a detailed accounting of confirmed DCP deliveries. Working closely with the Digital Cinema Distribution Coalition and other non-US partners, KenCast has been continuously improving the system to stay abreast of new developments, emerging standards and process changes to provide optimal performance.
