Delivering growth (and data) as KenCast appoints new CEO

Advanced digital content delivery solutions trailblazer, KenCast, is ushering in a new era of leadership. As the company celebrates the retirement of its esteemed founder and CEO, Dr. William E. Steele, KenCast proudly announces Dr. Henrik Axelsson as its new CEO.

For decades, KenCast has been synonymous with innovation and reliability in the satellite and telecommunications industry. Under Dr. Steele’s leadership, the company has created enduring solutions for a wide array of customers in sectors such as retail, digital signage, education, defense, and digital cinema. It now marks a significant milestone as Dr. Steele passes the torch to Dr. Axelsson.

Introducing Dr. Henrik Axelsson

Dr. Henrik Axelsson, who has been an integral part of KenCast since 2006, steps into the role of CEO with a wealth of experience in the content delivery space and a track record of success. With a Ph.D. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, Dr. Axelsson has held multiple roles within KenCast, spanning software development, operations, business development, and management.

Under Dr. Axelsson’s leadership, KenCast has already achieved significant milestones, including securing multiyear partnerships with digital cinema giants such as Cinecolor and the Digital Cinema Distribution Coalition (DCDC). These collaborations have ensured that millions of cinemagoers in Latin America and the United States receive seamless content delivery through KenCast’s innovative technology.

In addition, KenCast is partnering with R4 Integration, working under NOAA, to support the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron, known as the “Hurricane Hunters”. KenCast’s technology will ensure that critical weather data gathered from the world’s most ferocious storms can be transmitted back to base in real-time, saving lives and safeguarding property.

Driving Strategic Initiatives

Above all, Dr Axelsson is excited to take KenCast to a new generation of product enhancements to provide a “complete content distribution system”, where Fazzt™ software will be further refined with built-in automation to support optimal delivery decisions.

“I envision KenCast as a powerhouse of complete data delivery technology.  We will build upon our commitment to assure data delivery anywhere, anytime with next-level adaptive, dynamic smart solutions that not only flawlessly solve transmission errors but also seamlessly send data over the optimal communications pathways.

“I am deeply honored to step into the role and build upon the remarkable foundation established by Dr. Steele. KenCast’s commitment to innovation and excellence in data delivery remains unwavering,” said Dr. Axelsson.

Future Directions

Dr. Axelsson’s strategic vision for KenCast includes:

– Enhancing Platform Capabilities: Improving hybrid delivery solutions to manage content delivery across multicast channels and point-to-point connections, even with intermittent connectivity.

– Expanding Market Reach: Addressing the unique challenges of various verticals such as aeronautics, maritime, defense, corporate communications, NGOs, education, and digital cinema.  KenCast is currently rolling out its SmartFEC, a new patent, that allows moving vehicles – in the air, at sea and on land – to flawlessly receive content even in extended outages, whether in-or-out of coverage.

– Developing Next-Gen Solutions: Innovating hybrid content delivery solutions for terrestrial and satellite broadband, including Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites, and refining point-to-point algorithms for accelerated delivery.

Looking ahead, Dr Axelsson and KenCast anticipate continuous growth in content distribution needs over the next 5 to 10 years. This presents unique opportunities to expand the potential of its SmartFEC and automation technology to fine-tune its products for specific use cases and dynamic environments.
